Master of Advanced Studies programs as well as diploma and certificate programs are aimed at people with a university degree and professional experience. A postgraduate degree does not count as a regular university degree.
In exceptional cases, applicants with comparable qualifications or basic training at the Bachelor's level and with specific professional experience may also be admitted upon review of the application documents submitted.
Continuing education courses only last one or a few days and are generally open to all interested people. Participants receive a confirmation of participation.
The schools listed in the Swiss Education Research Network are considered as universities of applied sciences.

However, further clarifications may also be necessary for degrees from these universities. For example, the university must be accredited in the country concerned and it must be possible to complete doctoral studies in the subject of the degree. Information on this can be obtained from the International Association of Universities (IAU), Euridyce (EACEA) or the ENIC-NARIC network. In any case, it is up to the person responsible for the continuing education program to demand further additional qualifications (e.g. professional experience, German course, etc.).
The following procedure is recommended for applicants with a university degree from a country that has not signed the Lisbon Convention:
